Leadership, ownership and commitment

To support their continuing focus on Health and Safety at work, Nottinghamshire County Council hosted another series of roadshows across their sites this year, culminating in an exhibition with suppliers and partners at County Hall, which we were pleased to be part of, hosting an Arc Partnership stand.

We chose a theme around why Health and Safety culture must be embedded across a business and what we’re doing to establish this within Arc.

Since the launch of Arc Partnership as a joint venture, health and safety has been the top priority for our business. Our commitment to Health and Safety includes:

  • Maintaining a positive Health and Safety culture
  • Implementation and development of a Safety Management System
  • A Safety Committee to consult and foster participation
  • Visible leadership

Embedding a positive safety culture involves leadership, ownership and commitment, making Health and Safety a key aspect of everything we do. Our managing director chairs regular Safety Committee meetings, Health and Safety is the first item on all team meeting agendas and a Safety Management System has been set up to manage, monitor and report on our activity.

We owe a common duty of care to each other, what we do at work can affect not just ourselves but others

Health and Safety can be a subject people shy away from, so we also hosted an interactive game with a mix of who wants to be a millionaire style quizzes, spot the hazards and the chance to (virtually) tackle a fire, which proved to be very popular!

This event is going from strength to strength and we’re now looking forward to hosting a stand next year.
