Meet our award winning architectural assistant

We’re proud to announce our first award winner here at the Arc Partnership.

Nottingham Trent University School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment has just awarded our very own Joseph Starkey with ‘The best drawing of the year’ category as part of their MArch Degree Show 2016.

As well as holding the position of Architectural Assistant here at Arc, Joseph has recently completed his Masters in Architecture.

His project explores bringing new architectural life to a dense, mismatched area of the city of Nottingham by infilling a street of Victorian warehouses with a stunning new hybrid structure that combines both modern and traditional methods.

The judging panel included an external examiner from RIBA, who commented that “the project was exceptional”. Joseph himself says:

“The University congratulated everyone for surviving such a challenging course – it certainly felt like that at times with all the late nights and early mornings! Then to be given the award for ‘Best drawing of the year’ in the company I was in – what an achievement. To have my hard work recognised felt great. I’m one step away from becoming a fully qualified Architect and the skills I have will certainly benefit both me and the Arc Partnership.”

We’re delighted to share a selection of Joseph’s vignettes with you, including his award-winning technical drawing, and hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Well done Joseph – we’re thrilled to bits to have such a talented up and coming architect in the team.
